Eatonville Boy Hit By School Bus

EATONVILLE, Wash. —

A 14-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital Thursday afternoon after getting hit by a school bus on his way home from school.

The accident happened when the ninth grader was crossing the street in downtown Eatonville.

"Looked to me like his shirt had hooked on the framing of the shock absorbers," said Chief Bud Lucas of the Eatonville Fire Department.

The Eatonville police chief told KIRO 7 that the boy may have had headphones on when he crossed the street.

Paramedics said the boy was alert and conscious, laying under the rear axle of the bus when they reached him.

"He was in a little pain under there as we were trying to move him," Lucas said.

The student was rushed to Mary Bridge Children's hospital and the bus driver was distraught over what had happened.

"Very, very distraught. It's one of our bus drivers that has multiple decades of service. We've used her to help train other drivers and is really a great bus driver," said school Superintendent Ray Arment.

Because of privacy laws, the boy’s condition is unknown.
