EDGEWOOD, Wash. —
Detectives said a similar Craigslist-related robbery occurred on Sunday in Lake Stevens.
In Wednesday's robbery and fatal shooting, Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer told KIRO 7 that a woman called Jim Sanders about a diamond ring he placed for sale on Craigslist. That man and woman arrived at Sanders’ home around 9:30 p.m.
"They looked at the ring, they said they wanted it. Whipped out cash and says, ‘Is this okay?’ They said, ‘Sure, fine.’ Then they whipped out a gun and said, 'How about this?" said Sanders’ brother-in-law Tim Jorgensen.
Police said Sanders and his wife were forced to the ground and tied up. Then two other people wearing masks came in the house and went upstairs where they dragged the couple’s 14- and 12-year-old sons downstairs.
The four held the family at gunpoint and asked Sanders’ wife, Charlene, about the location of a safe.
"They were hitting her head on the floor. Hitting her with the gun, whatever they were doing to her, beating the crap out of her," Jorgensen said.
Police said the robbers then started pistol whipping the 14-year-old boy. Jim Sanders was able to break loose and attacked the man, police said.
The 14-year-old jumped on the attacker's back, but the attackers fire a gun at Sanders.
"They drug him in the living room and then shot him on the floor while he was on the floor in the chest," Jorgensen said.

Detectives worked through the night processing the scene.
At about 4:30 a.m., Troyer said the robbers fled the scene northbound state Route 167 and took the 277th Street off-ramp where they threw items from the victims' home out the window.
Meanwhile, Lake Stevens police on Thursday issued sketches of two men wanted in connection with a similar home invasion robbery Sunday.
