Foster Youths Get Full Scholarships At SU

SEATTLE —

Only two percent of foster youth in our region go on from high school to obtain a bachelor's degree in college often due to a lack of resources or a connection to a caring adult.

Seattle University is addressing that statistic through the establishment of a new scholarship program for Washington State foster youth.

Initiated by Marta and Lucio Dalla Gasperina - foster youth advocates and parents of two current Seattle University students - the Fostering Scholars program will provide full tuition; work-study job opportunities; health insurance; mentoring support; and year-round on-campus room and board.

For more information about the program and how you can become involved, contact Melanie Apostol, Media Relations Manager at Seattle University, at 206-296-6114 or apostolm@seattleu.edu.
