In all, 85,000 votes were cast in this year’s Spirit Contest, which featured 32 western Washington schools in competing in a bracket-style format on KIROTV.com polls throughout the month of April.
Emerald Ridge High School, located in Puyallup, received more than 25,000 votes, taking the School Spirit crown for the first time in the competition’s four-year history. Emerald Ridge joins Liberty High School (2008) and Interlake High School (2009 and 2010) in an elite trio of KIRO 7 School Spirit Competition winners.
KIRO 7 will be coordinating with Emerald Ridge to deliver the school spirit trophy and congratulate the school in person in the coming weeks.
Thanks to all who voted in the 2011 KIRO 7 Spirit Competition.
