A convenience store employee was attacked with a beer bottle in a robbery late Friday night, said the Burien Police Department.

The robbery happened at the 24/7 store at 11853 Glendale Way South at 11:54 p.m.

According to police, two men walked into the store, went to the back and grabbed three 40 oz. bottles of beer.

The two men walked to the counter, and as the clerk scanned one of the bottles, one of the men threw a bottle at the clerk’s head.

Police said one of the two men jumped over the counter, and the other took the cash register.

The two men fled the scene and left with the money inside the register.

KIRO 7 Eyewitness News spoke with Vishal Kumar, the clerk’s son, who said his father was struck in the left ear, but did not have to go to the hospital.

“They just take the register and run,” said Kumar. “It’s scary and it’s absolutely rude, and there’s no need for that. We’re all human beings. Honestly, he could have just asked for the money. He didn’t need to hit the old guy.”

Surveillance cameras were recording during the time of the robbery, and the two men were seen wearing hooded sweatshirts. 

Employees told KIRO 7 one of the robbers left behind his shoes.

King County deputies will continue to investigate the robbery.
