YELM, Wash. —
A 200-pound engine hoist fell on the abdomen of a 4-year-old boy, reported KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.
The incident took place in the Nisqually Pines development near Yelm, Chris Mealy with the Thurston County Sheriffs Department said.
Because there were concerns that the boy could have internal injuries, an airlift transported the boy to Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma, the fire chief said.
He was around the cherry picker, the engine puller, and either grabbed it or somehow it fell over on him and hit him in the abdomen, said Southeast Thurston Fire Authority Captain Pat Cruse.
The Yelm fire chief said the boy was suffering from abdominal pain and having some difficulty breathing but was conscious and awake when medics arrived.
