Everett Woman Accused In Arizona Double Murder

PHOENIX —

An Everett woman is accused in a double murder that occurred during a home-invasion in southern Arizona two weeks ago.

Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnick said 41-year-old Shawna Ford led a raid on a house in which a man and his 9-year-old daughter were shot and killed.

Police said Forde and two others dressed as law enforcement officers forced their way in the family's home, intending to steal money and drugs.

Investigators said the killings were part of a plan to finance activities of the anti-immigration Minutemen group.

"I don't really know what goes on in her mind, but she is obviously a very evil person and was the mastermind of this operation," said Dupnick.

Forde grew up in Everett and lost a race for Everett city council in 2007.

She was ousted from the Washington state chapter of the Minuteman group two years ago for 'conduct unbecoming a member.'

Detectives said there are more suspects involved in the slayings and believe Forde and the other suspects staged home-invasion robberies in other states.
