SEATTLE —
The National Park Service has brought in additional rangers to Mount Rainier National Park to help recover the body of a ranger who fell to his death during a rescue operation Thursday near the summit.
A spokeswoman says three rangers from Denali National Park in Alaska are relieving rangers Monday at Camp Schurman, at about the 9,500-foot-level, where they have been waiting for a chance to retrieve the body of Nick Hall.
Two rangers from parks in Colorado also have been brought to Washington to help with the normal operation of the park.
Spokeswoman Jacqueline Ashwell says about 3 feet of snow has fallen since Thursday's accident, and avalanche danger is high. Helicopters are standing by, but it may be midweek before anyone is able to reach Hall's body.
