Family Dollar Recalls 120K Children's Cape Costumes

Family Dollar has recalled about 120-thousand "Creepy Cape" Halloween costumes because the capes fail to meet flammability standards and pose fire and burn hazards to consumers.

No injuries have been reported. But the Consumer Product Safety Commission says parents should check and make sure children aren't wearing this particular cape before trick-or-treating tonight.

The costumes were sold at Family Dollar stores nationwide from August 2005 until now. The package is labeled "Creepy Cape" and shows a green-skinned vampire wearing a black cape.

The 40-inch black vinyl capes have a standup collar. A white sticker on the collar reads "FLAME RETARDANT PVC" and "MADE IN CHINA." The capes' packaging shows a green-skinned vampire wearing a black cape. "NO. 53600" and "CREEPY CAPE" are printed on the packaging.

Family Dollar stores nationwide sold the product from August 2005 to October 2006. Consumers can return the capes to the stores for a full refund. For more information, contact Family Dollar at 800-547-0359 or visit http://www.familydollar.com or http://www.cpsc.gov.
