SILVERDALE, Wash. —

A Silverdale family fled their burning home early Friday morning after a girl delivering newspapers saw the fire and called for help, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reported.

Four adults and two children escaped the house in the 12200 block of Crossridge Avenue at about 4 a.m.

A firefighter was rushed to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Firefighters said a grill left on the porch was likely the cause.

The house was a total loss, but there was no immediate damage estimate.
