12th man spirit seizes Seattle
The beloved 12th Man flag was raised on the Space Needle Friday.

SEATTLE —

Hundreds of fans lined streets and overpasses from Renton to Sea-Tac as the Seahawks made their way from the team's headquarters to a chartered flight bound for Atlanta.

The crowd, several people deep in places, gave the Hawks a thunderous sendoff, said KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reporter Deborah Horne, reporting from the last leg of the team's trip on South 188th Street.

"We had to send them off right," said Kevin Jones of Federal Way. "We were at home, screaming loud, so we decided to come out here and get it done for those guys, 12th man all the way."

The fans' Seahawks love-in began just after noon outside Renton City Hall. About 200 people gathered for the impromptu rally.

"It's a long journey and a lot of things got to go your way. But this team is playing really good football at the right time," said Craig Terrill, who was on the team's 2006 Super Bowl squad.
