Fire crews rescue resident off of balcony during fire

KENT, Wash. —

Fire crews in Kent rescued a resident who was trapped on a second story balcony when the stairwell at their apartment complex caught fire.

Emergency units were dispatched to the 23900 block of 111th Place S.E. just after midnight.

The exterior stairwell shared by four apartments was fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters used a ladder to free the resident and quickly knocked down the fire. The fire did not extend to any of the apartments.

No residents of the apartments were displaced by the fire and no injuries were reported.

Cause of the fire is under investigation.
