MOUNT VERNON —
A fire destroyed a Mount Vernon apartment Saturday night.
The incident happened around 7 p.m. at the Summerglen Apartments at 1620 North 26th Street.
The Mount Vernon Fire Department was dispatched to the scene and upon arrival, the Battalion Chief noted visible flames and additional units from the Burlington and Cedardale fire departments.
As crews battled the fire, flames spread to the neighboring unit.
Firefighters controlled the fire within 30 minutes.
No injuries were reported, and the occupants are in the care of the American Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Skagit County Fire Marshal.
