Fire Forces Boeing Workers To Evacuate

RENTON, Wash. —

A fire at a building at Boeing's Renton plant forced the evacuation of hundreds of workers Monday morning, workers and firefighters told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

Firefighters said fire was discovered at about 10:30 a.m. in a pile of rags on the mezzanine mechanical area of Building 420.

At least 800 people were evacuated and will be allowed back into the building by 1 p.m., firefighters said.

Chopper 7 video showed workers standing outside as firefighters from King County, Renton and the Boeing Fire Department at the scene.

No one was hurt.
