SAMMAMISH, Wash. —

A fire truck became trapped in an undermined road while responding to a broken water main Friday night, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reported.

The water main broke near Skyline High School on 236th Avenue Southeast in Sammamish.

Deputy Fire Chief John Murphy told KIRO the fire truck was responding to reports of flooding on the street.

While the truck was pulling off the roadway, it sunk into part of saturated ground that was exposed after the road was undermined by rushing water.

Authorities said a crane may have to be brought in to free the crippled truck.
