The two fires started about 2:30 p.m. along Woodinville-Redmond Road across Sammamish Slough from Willows Run Golf Course. About 20 acres burned.

Smoke could be seen from all over the Eastside and Woodinville-Redmond Road was closed in the area from 98th to 109th while firefighters attacked the fire from all sides.

The Redmond Fire Department said it had eight engines, two trucks, three batallion chiefs, two brush trucks, two tankers, and two bulldozers at the scene. The fires were burning in very inaccessible areas, a dispatcher said.

The cause of the fires was under investigation, but Redmond Fire Capt. Rob Torrey said they were suspicious in origin.

Crews from other nearby fire agencies were called in to help.
