Flooding Closes 2 Highways In Whatcom County

SR9 and SR524 Shut Down


Flooding has caused the closure of SR 542 at Maple Falls and SR9 at Acme in Whatcom County, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The Nooksack River overflowed onto the roadway at milepost 29 on SR 542 (Mt. Baker Highway) in Maple Falls. SR542 was shut down as of 10:12 p.m.

The south fork of the Nooksack River in Acme has overflowed onto the roadway at milepost 72 on SR 9. The highway was shut down as of 9:10 p.m.
