Fort Lewis Strykers Killed

Six Fort Lewis Soldiers Killed In Dining Tent Attack Identified



Fort Lewis, WA —

The Defense Department today has released the identities of 13 soldiers killed in an attack on a dining tent in Mosul, Iraq, on Tuesday. Six of those identified were based at Fort Lewis and assigned to the Stryker Brigade Combat Team. They are:

--Captain William W- Jacobsen Junior, age 31, of Charlotte, North Carolina.

--Staff Sergeant Julian S- Melo, age 47, of Brooklyn, New York.

--Staff Sergeant Darren D- VanKomen, age 33, of Bluefield, West Virginia.

--Staff Sergeant Robert S- Johnson, age 23, of Castro Valley, Calif.

--Specialist Jonathan Castro, age 21, of Corona, Calif.

--Private First Class Lionel Ayro, age 22, of Jeanerette, Louisiana.
