Free Wi-Fi On All Amtrak Cascades Trains Starting Monday

OLYMPIA, Washington —

All Amtrak Cascades trains will feature free Wi-Fi service starting Monday, the Washington State Department of Transportation announced in a news release.

The service will be provided jointly by Amtrak and WSDOT and is part of a project to refurbish the trains to "like-new condition" and stretch their lifespans to about 2029, according to the release.

"Amtrak Cascades continues to be a desirable travel option and a popular alternative to driving," WSDOT Secretary Paula Hammond said. "Adding another great on-board amenity like Wi-Fi makes travel by train even more attractive."

Amtrak Cascades operates three daily round trips between Portland and Seattle; one daily round trip between Seattle and Vancouver, B.C., and between Portland and Vancouver, B.C., and daily service between Eugene and Seattle, via Portland, according to the release. Amtrak Cascades is operated by Amtrak in partnership with WSDOT and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
