Fuel Truck Strikes Plane At Sea-Tac

SEATAC, Wash. —

A fuel truck struck an America West plane near a gate at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport Tuesday morning.

There were no passengers on board the plane at the time of the collision, at about 7 a.m. No one was injured and no fuel spilled, Sea-Tac spokesman Bob Parker said.

Parker said the fuel truck struck the rear portion of the right engine at a critical point. It was not a big collision, but the aircraft's skin was punctured.

The aircraft has been grounded, Parker said. At least one flight, America West Flight 569 to Phoenix, was canceled because of the incident.
