SEATTLE —

A gas leak caused authorities to evacuate a store and close Fourth Avenue at Holgate in Seattle just before noon on Thursday.

Customers at a Cash & Carry store smelled gas and called the fire department, said Chopper 7 pilot Clark Stahl.

Video from Chopper 7 showed a hole next to a sidewalk by Cash & Carry. A jackhammer lay nearby. It appeared that workers installing a fence may have struck a gas line, Stahl said.
