Dawnya Ikerd told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News that she was with Parrett just after she was struck, trying to calm her friend.

"She was very upset," Ikerd said. "I just held her while they were working on her."

Police said the driver, a 47-year-old man, and his passenger, a 48-year-old man, got out of the van, went back to the two girls, spoke with them and then drove to the driver's home nearby. They parked and later returned to the scene, where they were both arrested.
