Governors Conference And Other Events May Cause Traffic Nightmare In Seattle

Related

Going to be in Seattle Saturday? Be prepared for a

taste of chaos -- or at least potential traffic nightmares.

Among

other things, the annual National Governors Conference is in town,

with the Westin Hotel as the central site. Traffic restrictions

have been in place since Thursday. A few blocks away, the Taste of

Seattle food fair will be going on at Seattle Center.

And the

Seattle Mariners, Seattle Storm and Seattle Sounders all have games

in town today. Leaders of the governors' association will hold one

of their main news conferences at Kerry Park on Queen Anne Hill.

Throughout the governors' meetings, you can expect assorted

demonstrations. For example, the group Put People First is planning

a rally Saturday afternoon with nominal Democratic presidential

candidate Congressman Dennis Kucinich at Westlake Park in the heart

of the downtown shopping district.

And there's more: Among other

activities today are the Seafair Classic Speedboat Show at South

Lake Union Park, and the Seafair Indian Days Pow Wow at Discovery

Park. So if you can take a little congestion, at least you have a

wide choice of things to do.
