KENT, Wash. —

Detectives descended on dense brush and thick woods near Kent this weekend in the latest search for evidence in the Green River killer case.

Investigators focused on an area just off Lake Fenwick Road.

The search was especially unsettling for Kevin Beal because it took place on his property and little more than a mile away from where the first remains in the case were found more than 20 years ago.

"We're always having helicopters. It's no surprise, kind of a hideaway place," Beal said.

"To just kinda think this stuff is so close to your back door gets a little spooky," said Robbie Ott, a neighbor.

The search once again is fueling speculation that detectives are getting help from Gary Ridgway, who's in custody after being charged with 7 of the 49 Green River murders.

Neither side will confirm that.

No remains were found Saturday, but detectives were expecte to resume the search Sunday.
