SEATTLE —
A Christian group is urging people across the country to think twice about buying Starbucks coffee after the company stated its support for gay marriage.
Pastor Steven Andrew with USA Christian Ministries issued a statement Wednesday night calling for the boycott.
“Starbucks is no longer fashionable,” the statement read. “The boycott is important because God blesses those who obey Him…Starbucks can follow Satan if they want to.”
In the last couple weeks, Starbucks and other northwest companies, including Microsoft and Nike, have backed legislation legalizing same-sex marriage.
Andrew estimated that Starbucks would lose 80 percent of its customers if all Christians bought their coffee somewhere else. He said he’s specifically calling on all churches across the country to stop buying Starbucks.
