SEATTLE —

A hazmat crew responded to a University Washington residence hall after multiple people got sick Sunday afternoon, according to the Seattle Fire Department.

The incident happened after 12:30 p.m. at McMahon Hall, located on the northeast side of the campus.

A hazmat team responded to the location to a report of a Freon leak at the dorm, according to officials.

Crews evacuated the hall, but eight people were sickened and evaluated by medics.

No one was injured, and the people are now OK.

According to the Seattle Fire Department, the hazmat team could not locate the leak.

The cause of why the people were sick is unknown at this time, and the incident is still under investigation.

After 2:30 p.m., residents were allowed back into the dorm.
