Study: Teen Smoking Drops By Half



OLYMPIA, Wash. —

State efforts to snuff out teen smoking have cut cigarette use in half in the past six years, according to a study released on Wednesday.

The statewide survey of teen behaviors and attitudes shows there are about 65,000 fewer young smokers than there were two years ago.

Fewer teens report having smoked marijuana or having used alcohol.

Information from the study will be used by state agencies to improve the health and safety of children across the state.
