Interactive Elmo Book Asks Readers 'Who Wants To Die?'

ELLENSBURG, Wash. —

An Ellensburg mother who purchased an interactive book about potty training featuring the Elmo character from Sesame Street claims when you press a voice command the book says “Uh oh, who wants to die?” instead of “Uh oh, who has to go?”

Crystal Gimlin bought the book for her 2-year-old daughter, and was surprised to hear what the book was saying.

The books publisher said the track was recorded correctly, but due to compression of the digital audio file, some consumers hear a different phrase.

Customers who have purchased the book hearing the same phrase can return the book where they purchased it from or call (800) 595-8484 for a free replacement.
