Kent Police Seek Couple In Elderly Scam

Related

KENT —

A woman and man are being sought by Kent police

after they tricked an elderly man and took some money. Police say

the woman stopped the elderly man as he was driving in a parking

lot, and claimed she was from South Africa.

She said she'd received

a cash settlement from the September 11th terrorist attack and

wanted to donate the money to a charity in the United States. She

supposedly needed proof that money could be withdrawn from a U-S

bank account.

A man approached and also offered to help her. The

two persuaded the victim to withdraw a large sum of money from his

account, but they tricked him and ended up with the money. Kent

police are looking for the two.
