King County Assessor Suspected In DUI Crash

SEATTLE —

The King County Assessor, Scott Noble, is suspected of vehicular assault and drunken driving in connection with a collision last month on Interstate 5, the King County Prosecutor and the State Attorney General told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News on Tuesday.

The King County Prosecutor's Office turned the case over to the state Attorney General's Office, which is reviewing the case for possible charges.

Noble, 58, was driving a 2004 Toyota Highlander northbound on I-5 just north of State Route 18 on Jan. 18 just after 2 a.m., according to a trooper's report.

Noble pulled over to the left shoulder and made a U-turn, going southbound in the northbound lanes. The Highlander struck a Jeep Liberty with two women inside, according to the report.

Noble and the women, ages 24 and 26, were injured and all were taken to Harborview Medical Center, the report said.

Noble spent weeks recovering at Harborview and was released during the second week of February, a hospital representative told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

The women in the Jeep were treated and released the same day, Susan Gregg-Hanson with Harborview said.

The assessor's office said Noble has not been to work since late January, but officials there would not make any other comment.

Noble was first elected King County Assessor in 1992 and was elected to his fifth term in November 2007, according to the assessor's Web page.
