LACEY, Wash. —
A Lacey woman was arrested after abandoning her newborn child at her mothers house Wednesday morning.
Lacey police said the woman delivered the baby within the past 24 hours, tied its umbilical cord and brought the baby in a car seat to her mothers home.
The womans mother was not at home so she left the baby and a note on the table. The note read His name is Noah. Please take care of him, police said.
Another relative came by the house and discovered the baby. The relative took the baby to St. Peter Hospital, where he's in good health.
A search for the mother ended Wednesday afternoon when police found her praying at a local Catholic church.
Thurston County Prosecutor Joe Wheeler said the woman is being charged with family abandonment.
Wheeler said the woman previously abandoned another child of hers and was later found in a mental health facility in Tucson, Ariz.
