SEATTLE —
Light rail testing starts Monday morning in the downtown Seattle bus tunnel.
The testing is the first time that buses and trains have used the tunnel together.
The testing will run between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Meanwhile, crews will break ground beneath Interstate 5 tomorrow to make a tunnel for the light rail extension.
The work will close the northbound off ramp to Olive Way in Seattle for up to a year, starting Monday night.
Drivers should exit at Madison Street and follow the detour signs.
The 3-mile extension will eventually run between downtown Seattle and the University of Washington.
