BELLINGHAM, Wash. —

A loaded firearm was detected at a security checkpoint Tuesday morning at Bellingham International Airport, said officials with the Transportation Security Administration.

According to officials, a.22 caliber Derringer revolver, loaded with five rounds of ammunition, was detected during a routine screening of carry-on bags.

The gun belonged to a passenger boarding a flight to Reno.

The passenger was allowed to board his flight after turning in the firearm over to an individual who was not traveling.
