Liquor board votes to deny Seattle the right to keep bars open later

OLYMPIA, Wash. —

The Washington State Liquor Control Board has voted to deny Seattle the right to keep bars open past 2 a.m.

Current law prohibits alcohol sales between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.

The three-member board voted in Olympia Wednesday morning.

Mayor Mike McGinn asked the state in July to let local jurisdictions extend bar hours in some areas.
