Reed Expects Record Turnout For Nov. 7 Election

OLYMPIA, Wash. —

Washington's Secretary of State said he expects a record turnout for the Nov. 7 general election.

Sam Reed said he expects 67 percent of registered voters to cast ballots -- the greatest percentage in an even-year, non-presidential election in recent history.

Reed said citizens are more excited about this year's elections.

In September, 93 percent of registered voters who cast ballots in the primary cast their ballots by mail. Reed predicted 88 percent of voters in November will cast their ballots by mail.

Voters will decide the fate of four statewide ballot measures, the race for U.S. Senate, nine seats for Congress, a contested race for Supreme Court, 98 seats in the state House, and 24 in the state Senate.
