From Monday evening into Tuesday morning, the region was hit with at least a couple inches of snow.

Crews were plowing roads early in time for the morning commute even with preparing streets throughout Monday.

In Olympia and the south sound, the lightest flurries started falling at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

A number of schools throughout the area are closed or delayed for the day.

Here is where you can find more updates on school delays and closures.

With the morning commute, drivers should plan ahead for wet and icy road conditions.

In Snohomish County, road crews have been deicing roadways for drivers.

According to the Washington State Patrol, there have been 27 collisions as of 8 a.m. in Thurston and Pierce counties.

More snow also dumped in the mountains overnight, and there is some snow and ice on the roadways. Chains are required on all cars unless vehicles have all-wheel drive.

Along with snow, the National Weather Service issued a High Wind Watch for Tuesday night into Wednesday afternoon.

Winds are expected to be 30 to 40 mph with gusts to 60 mph.
