Man Accused Of Fatally Strangling Mother

Police and aid crews were called to the home just after midnight. They found the 54-year-old woman dead at the scene.

Officers booked the 27-year-old man into the Pierce County Jail for investigation of murder. He'll make his first court appearance on Monday.

Spokesman Jim Mattheis says the man has a history of domestic violence arrests seven or eight years ago and again last year.

The wife was not seriously injured and was able to give investigators a statement this morning.

Mattheis says the fight took place in front of the family's twin six-year-old boys and eight-year-old girl. They are now staying with their mother's mother.

Mattheis also says the dead woman had been a victim of domestic violence in the past from another person. The spokesman called it "that whole cycle of domestic violence."
