OLYMPIA, Wash. —

Officers arrested a 34-year-old man Saturday morning in connection with a stabbing, according to the Olympia Police Department.

The incident started at about 4:20 a.m., when officers responded to sounds of screaming from the wooded area north of the 3100 block of Capital Mall Drive Southwest, police said.

Before officers arrived at the scene, they received a 911 report of a stabbing that occurred in a transient encampment.

Police learned two residents in the encampment were involved in a physical altercation and a 30-year-old man was stabbed multiple times.

The victim walked to Capital Medical Center and was treated for his non-life threatening injuries.

Police said 34-year-old Thomas R. Warmack, the suspect, received treatment at Capital Medical Center for minor injuries.

Warmack was booked into the Thurston County Jail for first-degree assault, according to police.

An investigation into the stabbing by the Olympia Detective Bureau is ongoing.
