Man Charged With Assault After Police Try And Re-Arrest Him

SEATTLE —

Police charged Daniel Saunders with assault Monday afternoon after resisting arrest when officers tried to re-arrest him.

Officials jailed Saunders, who has hepatitis C, after a naked vandalism spree at a South Seattle church earlier this month and was mistakenly released on Wednesday because of a paperwork error.

On Thursday, he showed up at the police evidence room to pick up property confiscated in the previous arrest.

When officers tried to get him back into custody, police said Saunders attacked them with a screwdriver.

He's now back in jail, facing additional felony assault charges.

He appeared in court on Friday and pleaded not guilty.
