MONTESANO, Wash. —
An autopsy on an Elma man showed he died from grabbing a live power line and not actually from urinating on it, said the Grays Harbor County Sheriffs Office.
Sheriff's Deputy Dave Pimentel said that 50-year-old Roy Messenger was not seriously hurt after he collided with a power pole Friday night near Montesano and called a relative to pull his car out of the ditch.
When family members arrived they found Messenger electrocuted.
It was originally reported that Messenger was killed when he urinated on a downed power line, but the sheriffs office said he actually grabbed the line to steady himself while urinating.
Messenger had burn marks on his hand.
