ALGONA, Washington —

An elderly man and his dog quickly escaped a fire in Algona that ripped through a travel trailer Friday afternoon.

A neighbor called 911 at about 12:37 p.m. after noticing flames coming from the 25-foot trailer in the 300 block of 4th Avenue North, the Valley Regional Fire Authority said.

Three fire engines, a ladder truck and an aid unit put out the flames and kept a home that was about 10 feet away from catching fire, the fire authority said.

The man and the dog were unhurt but the trailer was destroyed, and the neighboring home sustained heat damage, the fire authority said.
