SKYWAY, Wash. —
A man celebrating his birthday when he was fatally shot early Sunday morning in Skyway, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials said the incident happened after 1:35 a.m. when deputies responded to shots fired in the 5600 block of South Langston Road.
Witnesses told police the man, 22-year-old Minh Phu, and a few friends were at a nearby home celebrating Phu's birthday. He was outside of the house to charge his phone in a friend’s car.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they found Phu sitting in a car. The King County Medical Examiner's Office said he'd been shot multiple times.
Deputies started first aid on the man until medics arrived. They could not revive the man and he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.
Phu lived in Renton.
The King County Major crimes unit will continue to investigate the incident.
