SEATTLE —

A man was killed early Saturday morning after a vehicle he was in struck a concrete barrier and overturned, police said.

The rollover crash happened near the Washington State Convention Center near Sixth Avenue and Union Street in downtown after 2 a.m.

Police said there were three men in a BMW traveling southbound on Interstate 5.

The driver lost control of the vehicle when he took the Union Street exit and struck a concrete barrier and a wall.

The vehicle rolled over and landed on its top.

A sergeant on patrol found the one-vehicle collision at the location.

Crews responded to the scene and found one passenger, in his 20s to early 30s, dead at the scene.

The driver and the other passenger were transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

On Saturday afternoon, the 31-year-old driver was booked into the King County Jail for vehicular homicide.

Police said excessive speed was a factor in the collision.
