Man Killed While Crossing Everett Road



EVERETT, Wash. —

A man who tried to cross an Everett road in the middle of the block was struck and killed by a car early Wednesday morning, and police arrested the driver in the case, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reported.

Police said the 56-year-old victim died at about 2 a.m. when he crossed West Casino Road near Meridian. The driver kept going.

Officers on patrol in the area saw the collision, caught up with the driver about three blocks away and arrested him. The driver will face possible charges of vehicular homicide and felony hit-and-run, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reported.

The suspect, a 31-year-old Everett man, had been drinking and had a suspended license, police said.

Friends of the victim said he was a Vietnam veteran who lived nearby.
