Man rescued after jumping from pier near Bell Harbor, firefighters say

SEATTLE —

Two workers on a boat in Elliott Bay saved a man after he jumped off the cruise terminal pier near the Bell Harbor Marina on Tuesday, the Seattle Fire Department said.

Rescuers headed to the marina at about 1:10 p.m. after receiving the initial reports of the incident. They said the workers, who were in a small boat, threw the man in his 30s a life ring and pulled him aboard.

Seattle firefighters pulled the man from the boat and onto dry land.

The man was cold, but didn’t have any obvious injuries, firefighters said. Medics took him to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.

It isn’t known why the man jumped.
