Man Shot By Police At Kent Townhomes Complex

KENT, Wash. —

A man was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after he was shot by officers at a Kent townhome complex.

Kent police responded to a report of gunshots fired shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday in the Lakes neighborhood of Kent.

When officers arrived, the gunman had disappeared.

Additional 911 calls brought officers to the Bay View Townhomes complex in the 23300 block of 61st Avenue South where police found a man with a gun.

Two officers shot the man after he pointed a rifle at them, Kent police spokeswoman Terri Vickers said.

The man is a 63-year-old from Kent. Harborview spokeswoman Susan Gregg-Hanson said the man is in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

The 29-year-old and 27-year-old officers were not injured. They are on administrative leave.

Renton police are handling the investigation.

KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reporter Rick Price said police removed the crime scene tape blocking the entrance to the complex just before 4:30 a.m.
