BURIEN, Wash. —
Police are searching for a man who attacked a homeless man at a Burien park on Wednesday.
The attacker demanded the cell phone of the 40-year-old homeless man, who was in the bathroom at Jacob Ambaum Park late Wednesday afternoon.
"When he refused, he was stabbed multiple times inside the bathroom," said Sgt. John Hall of the King County Sheriff's Office.
The victim is being treated for stab wounds to his head, neck and body. Detectives who interviewed the man said they expect him to survive the attack.
Ansernee Omar saw the man walking to the nearby Shell gas station for help.
"I saw his hair; it was really raggedy but all you see is he blood on his shirt," Omar said.
The attack was so violent investigators said the man who did the stabbing would likely have blood on his clothing, too. The suspect was described as wearing a blue backpack.
Investigators are reviewing surveillance video at nearby businesses. They said the closest cameras, at a gas station, weren't working.
People who live in the area said they've seen homeless people using the bathroom's outlets to charge their phones.
