SEATTLE —

Crews shut down Martin Luther King, Jr. Way after a light rail train struck a man, said the Seattle Fire Department.

 

The incident happened before 6 p.m. at the Columbia City station at 4818 Martin Luther King, Jr. Way South.

 

Police said a pedestrian was hit by a northbound SoundTransit Link train.

 

When crews arrived at the scene, they found a man under the train. 

 

Seattle police told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reporter Graham Johnson that the man has a severe head injury.

 

The man was taken to the hospital, and his injuries are life-threatening. 

 

 Martin Luther King, Jr. Way was shut down for police to investigate.
