LYNNWOOD, Wash. —
A 48-year-old man was taken into custody after threatening his parents at a Lynnwood home Saturday afternoon, police said.
The incident happened around 1 p.m. at a home in the 6700 block of 190th Southwest.
Police received a call about a man who threatened his parents and demanded money.
The man then barricaded himself inside of the home, and refused to come out for several hours.
A SWAT team arrived at the scene, but the man did not comply with officers. A K9 unit was then deployed.
According to police, the man tried to sneak out of the house, but was confronted by police.
“He had come to the home looking for money, and when he was told, ‘No,’ he pulled out a knife and threatened their lives with a knife. Luckily, they got out safely and called 911,” said Shannon Sessions of the Lynnwood Police Department.
The man was taken into custody after 8 p.m.
Sessions told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News that the man is a convicted felon and has several warrants.
