Marlette Buchanan


Marlette Buchanan has recorded with a broad range of artists including Ziggy Marley, Charlie Daniels, and Larnelle Harris and performed with additional popular artists in gospel, country, reggae, and bluegrass. She’s recorded and toured nationally as a lead soloist with the Fisk Jubilee Singers. Ms Buchanan has sung in many venues nationwide including the Grand Ole Opry and Key Arena. Stage credits include Working and For Colored Girls…and she can be heard as the soloist in a documentary entitled The Freedom Riders.

Ms. Buchanan’s operatic credits include the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions (Regional Finalist) and roles such as Antonia in The Tales of Hoffman, and Euridice in Orfeo ed Euridice. Her concert performances include the African Sanctus, Carmina Burana, and the Spiritual Cantata.

Behind the scenes, Ms. Buchanan is a member of the voice faculty at Pacific Lutheran University and the Manager of Pierce County’s Arts Division. She serves as Vice President of the PNW chapter of the Recording Academy, is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and is a board member of the Washington State Arts Alliance. Marlette is a Master’s degree graduate of Boston University, and received her Bachelor’s degree from Fisk University.
